Social Media

As we mark the passing of one of our great thought leaders, Mr. Steve Jobs, it’s important to reflect upon the ever-changing landscape of social media. With multimedia news releases gaining momentum and Facebook and Twitter become common place, what’s to become of the good old practice of ’send and call’ PR and snail mail press kits? I’ll tell you what’s going to happen… nothing. That’s right. NOTHING. Reporters will always appreciate a friendly voice (well, most reporters) and a personal note. They have certainly expanded their repertoire of gathering news stories, but your voice won’t be lost in the shuffle if you haven’t ‘Linked In’ or tweeted a good tweet about your business. Send a well-crafted, relevant e-mail and you’ll be just fine. I promise.

PS. Remember the newspaper? You don’t have to. Because it’s still around.
